ARTIST STATEMENT
I remix familiar materials into innovative textiles, dressing commonplace subjects in highly textured second skins. I contour yarn to trace wood grains on planks, or encase furniture in a hot-melt membrane. I am proudly nonbinary and my art is as queer as myself: mixing masculine and feminine materials, marrying textile and sculpture.
Second Skins seeks to blend drag with fine art, dressing inanimate objects as their alter-egos. Drawing inspiration from camp esthetics, this series pushes inexpensive materials to their absolute limit and presents an object, a space, or the artist's body as its own bastardized doppelgänger.
